Associate Headteacher Programme benefits

Impact data shows that the majority of participants move into headship within a year of the programme and are more confident and competent in taking on the role. The system also benefits from the succession opportunities created by the placements and the shared learning across schools.

The programme:

  • prepares participants to move into headship in a challenging context
  • gives participants the confidence and practical skills to succeed at interview and hit the ground running in their first year as headteachers
  • supports school improvement through increased leadership capacity in the placement school
