ADSBM independent applicants
Eligibility criteria
Independent applicants must be current school business managers or equivalent working either:
- outside of England, who has identified an English school who will give their full support and at which you may carry out work-based study, consultation and research, and be able to meet the full cost of the course
- in an independent school, further education college or university, and be able to meet the full cost of the course
In addition to this you must also:
- have the relevant level of SBM experience, demonstrated by one of the following:
- a relevant professional or academic qualification equivalent to NVQ level 5
- having been working as an SBM for at least three years operating at an advanced level over the key elements of strategic management, managing school improvement and change management (please see the School business management competency framework)
- be able to provide evidence of your qualifications or experience by completing the accreditation of prior experience and learning (APEL) form as part of your application
- obtain the support of the headteacher and chair of governors at the school supporting your application
- be able to attend seven out-of-school workshops (comprising one one-day, and three two-day residential workshops)
- be able to commit to approximately 8–12 hours of personal study time per week
