Who is ADSBM for?

The Advanced Diploma of School Business Management (ADSBM) is for experienced school business managers (SBMs) who are members of their school leadership team (SLT) operating in state-maintained schools in England, or those with school business management responsibilities within local authorities. The advanced diploma will develop your professional skills in performance management, programme management, strategic financial management, organisational transformation and change management to enable you to make enhanced contributions in increasingly complex organisational settings. You would apply for ADSBM as an internal applicant in this instance.

All internal applicants will be required to complete the application requirements document relating to the ADSBM programme. This must be uploaded with your application in order for it to be complete.

Individuals who are not based within a school or local authority but who are actively seeking or wishing to enter the SBM profession in a state-maintained school are also able to apply for ADSBM as an aspiring SBM applicant.

The selection criteria and administrative procedures differ for internal and external applicants. Please ensure you follow the link that applies to you in order to progress to the correct application form and further details on the programme.

We advise that all applicants should first complete the Diploma of School Business Management (DSBM) qualification. However, we also welcome those without DSBM. If you wish to proceed directly to the ADSBM, then you will be asked for further details regarding your professional and academic background in the form of an APEL (accreditation of prior experience and learning). Please consult our APEL guidance note for further details and complete the APEL template form. Your APEL will be assessed by a qualified facilitator prior to acceptance on to the programme.

Your APEL must be submitted as part of your application by the closing date. It is essential when uploading your APEL that you input a description into the mandatory description field. The APEL document must be uploaded as a .doc file.
