Information for schools about Accelerate to Headship

Tomorrow's Heads

School-based applicants to Tomorrow's Heads will be asked for a formal endorsement from their headteacher as part of the application process.  

By signing up to support an application, you will be committing to the following:

  • Providing challenging development opportunities in your school that will help the participant prepare for their future headship. These will be discussed and agreed with the participant's leadership development adviser and are likely to involve projects with a whole-school focus that link with the school’s improvement plan.
  • Releasing the participant in your school for external development opportunities, including stretch assignments in other schools or organisations. The length and nature of these opportunities will vary depending on individual development needs. Further information on the time commitment required from Tomorrow’s Heads participants.
  • Providing a meaningful leadership development opportunity for another Tomorrow's Heads participant in the form of a stretch assignment. (This will also be discussed and agreed with the participant's leadership development adviser.)
