Accelerate to Headship appeals
If you want to appeal against the decision made at the online application stage of Accelerate to Headship, please download the appeals form here:
Please note, we cannot accept appeals after the initial application stage.
What happens next?
You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of the appeal form within five working days, as well as a specified date by when the matter will be resolved.
When the grounds for appeal are that the correct procedure was not followed we will:
- review the evidence
- determine whether or not re-scoring of the original evidence is necessary
- notify you of the outcome and give further explanation/apology if necessary
When the grounds for appeal are alleged discrimination we will:
- review whether or not the correct procedure was followed
- consider whether any bias or less favourable treatment occurred
- determine whether or not re-scoring of the original evidence is necessary
- notify you of the outcome and give further explanation/apology if necessary
If you believe that an incorrect judgement has been made concerning your application:
- Two assessors not involved in the original assessment will independently review the evidence and re-score the application. They will agree a judgement.
- The original judgement and second judgement will be passed, along with the appeal papers, to an appeal panel.
- The panel will either uphold the original decision, or over-rule it. Explanations and apologies will be given to the applicant as appropriate. The appeals panel will be made up from the director of recruitment, head of selection, and two other experienced assessors who have not been involved in the original assessment.
- If you remain dissatisfied after receiving a response from the appeal, you will be referred to the National College complaints board or advised to contact relevant external bodies as appropriate, eg ACAS, Citizens Advice Bureau or the Tribunals Service.
Please note we will not accept appeals following the assessment centre stage of the application process. All applicants rejected after this stage will be offered the opportunity to discuss their assessment centre results.
