New guidance on improving risk management and cutting red tape for school trips is being introduced. In a discussion on the National College’s online network, school leaders were asked for their ideas on making the new guidance – entitled Health and Safety of Learners Outside the Classroom – as accessible and effective as possible.

Some schools have struggled with the duty to promote community cohesion – at local, national and international levels – since it came into being in September 2007 but, in fact, they may be doing more to fulfil it than they realise. This was one of the major points to emerge from the online network debate on community cohesion and its leadership challenges.
