National New Heads 2011

3–4 November 2011

An event giving new headteachers the opportunity to join others new to the job, to share advice and experiences, and pick up some tools and techniques to support their leadership in the months and years ahead.

Highlights included speeches from Maggie Farrar, our executive director of leadership development, as well as workshops with experienced heads and international speakers.

Seizing Success 2011: Annual Leadership Conference

15–17 June 2011

Our flagship annual conference continued to offer inspiration and real approaches to some of the day-to-day and strategic challenges that impact on successful leadership of schools and early years settings.

Highlights from this year included speeches from Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove and our Chief Executive, Steve Munby, as well as presentations from a great variety of international speakers. Videos, presentations and the coverage of each day on the conference blog are all available.

National New Heads Conference 2010 15–16 November 2010 The conference provides a unique opportunity for newly appointed headteachers to celebrate their new status and to network, swap advice and compare experiences with other first time headteachers.
School Business Management International Conference 2010 12–13 July 2010 The conference brought together school leaders, local authority representatives, governors, training providers and overseas delegates to consider the development and impact of the school business management profession globally.
Accelerate to Headship National Conference 1–2 July 2010 The conference brought together those who had gained a place on Accelerate to Headship, our ground-breaking programme for outstanding individuals with the ability, drive and commitment to become headteachers in as little as four years.

Successful leadership in times of challenge event 20–21 May 2010 This international conference explored the qualities and practices of school leaders who continue to improve outcomes for children and young people over a sustained period of time.
Headship for Rural Schools event 19 March 2010 This seminar focused on headship of rural schools. A report summarising the event, video highlights and presentations are available to view.
Well-being and the whole child 2010 22–23 February 2010 The first national Well-being and the whole child event, hosted in partnership with the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC), offered a ground-breaking opportunity to address the pressing issue of the well-being of children, young people and their families in the early 21st century.

The conference aimed to recognise the contribution that diversity in school leadership makes, to explore the challenges that are being faced in taking action to increase diversity, and to develop further ideas for effective local strategies to overcome barriers.

The conference programme was particularly relevant to senior leaders responsible for school workforce strategy in a local, regional or national context.
