Annual Leadership Conference Awards

Celebrating outstanding leaders
This year, we added an extra dimension to our annual conference. The Annual Leadership Conference Awards celebrate the dedication, talent and achievements of some of the outstanding and inspirational individuals shaping the leadership of our schools.
National College Award for Outstanding Operational Head, Deputy or Head of School in a National Support School
Great deputies, heads of school and operational heads play a critical role in the successful leadership of any school. This is particularly true of National Support Schools, where deputies/heads of school either: step up to enable heads to work beyond the school gates, ensuring in their absence that the school continues not just to function, but to thrive; or step out, drawing on their own skills and experience to help other schools to improve. This award recognises the vital role they play in the success of their schools.
Vicky Beer, operational head

Hillary Dilley, deputy headteacher

National College Recognition Award for Outstanding Contribution to System Leadership
Every year the College has the honour of working alongside exceptional leaders whose work makes a significant difference not just to one school or children's centre but to schools and children's centres across the country. These individuals often play a key role in shaping national policy or in driving local or regional initiatives that deliver real and positive change across the education system. This awards recognises what we feel are some of the most outstanding contributions to system leadership this year.
Schools award winners
Joint award to:
Robin and Sue’s role in leading a major government initiative across both primary and secondary has been outstanding. More than that, they have provided exemplary leadership of system change while maintaining excellence within the schools for which they have primary responsibility.
Individual award to:
While the joint award to Robin and Sue recognises achievement across a wider canvas of system leadership linked to a policy initiative, this individual award recognises the pioneering role that Michael has played in developing and promoting a model of system leadership locally and regionally that goes beyond turnaround intervention to set a pattern for a more sustainable future – one that delivers the best for every child.
Children's centre award winner
This award recognises a significant contribution to emergent research on system leadership in children’s centres.
