About the National Challenge
The National Challenge programme is designed to support secondary schools who fall below the floor targets.
Its goal is that, by 2011, 30 per cent of students in every secondary school will achieve five GCSEs at grade A*-C, including English and mathematics. Each National Challenge school will be supported by a National Challenge adviser.
Support for these schools is drawn from a range of agencies and providers including the National Strategies and the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA).
Support offered by the National College
The National College is providing support in the following strands:
- National Leaders of Education (NLEs) and National Support Schools (NSSs)
- Local Leaders of Education (LLEs)
- Developing Senior Leadership Teams (leadership development programme)
