ADSBM applicants with school business manager (SBM) experience (internal)
Eligibility criteria
As an applicant to the Advanced Diploma of School Business Management (ADSBM) with SBM experience you must either be:
- employed as an SBM or bursar within a state-maintained school, and be a member of the senior leadership team (SLT)
- working for a local authority or the Department for Education, with SBM responsibilities at SLT level, and a school identified at which you can carry out work-based study
In addition to this you must also:
- have the appropriate level of qualification, demonstrated by one of the following:
- the Diploma of School Business Management (DSBM) qualification
- a relevant professional or academic qualification equivalent to NVQ level 5
- have been working as an SBM for at least three years operating at an advanced level over the key elements of strategic management, managing school improvement and change management (please see the School business management competency framework)
- be able to provide evidence of your qualifications or experience by completing the accreditation of prior experience and learning (APEL) form as part of your application, except in the case of DSBM graduates
- obtain the support of the headteacher and chair of governors at the school supporting your application
- be able to attend seven out-of-school workshops (comprising one one-day, and three two-day residential workshops)
- be able to commit to approximately 8–12 hours of personal study time per week
