ADSBM applicants not working in a school (aspiring)

Eligibility criteria

Applicants in this category of the Advanced Diploma of School Business Management (ADSBM) must either be:

  • seeking work as an SBM within a state-maintained school and not currently working in a school
  • employed in the private sector or other non-education sector
  • employed by a local authority, but not working in a school support role and not have access to a support school
  • currently unemployed or are undertaking voluntary work (this also applies to school governors)

In addition to this you must also:

  • have a relevant professional or academic qualification equivalent to NVQ level 5
  • have at least three years senior management experience in one or more of the following: HR, facilities, ICT and administration. You must also have an appropriate understanding of school funding and finances
  • be able to take part in a short telephone interview to discuss your experience (to be carried out 4–6 weeks after the application deadline)
  • be able to work with the National College to identify a school at which you can carry out work-based study
  • be available to attend the mandatory two-day SBM induction workshop in Nottingham on 23 and 24 January 2012
  • be able to attend seven out-of-school workshops (comprising one one-day and three two-day residential workshops)
  • be able to commit to approximately 8–12 hours of personal study time per week

Applicants who work for education consultant companies may not be eligible for this programme. Any such applicants will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and referred accordingly.
